Home Land Blessing Prayer

Oh Great Spirit, reawaken the sacred way of the seventh generation connection and may Your wisdom and Your love live on through us.

From the sun rising in the east, to the sun setting in the west. From the warm winds in the south, to the cold winds in the the north. We give thanks and honor to all the Creator's creations on our Mother Earth.

We give special thanks for the salmon, the river, the mountains, the grass valleys, the ancient redwoods, all trees, the ferns, the creeks, the ocean, the rocks, the rain, the fog, the thunder, the lightening, the snow, the clouds, the sun, the sky, the moon, the stars, the fowl, the animals, our ancestral home land and for all life that gives life.

Oh Creator, reawaken a renewed commitment for the wisdom to honor, to respect, to protect and to love our Sacred Mother Earth. Bless our responsibility because we are the descendants of the original ancestors that were the true keepers of Mother Earth.

We give thanks for knowing the beliefs that connect all traditional Indians. A deep reverence and inner connection with the Creator and a deep reverence and inner connection with our Mother Earth. There cannot be a balanced one without the balance of the other.

We give thanks and honor for the creatures that are teachers and messengers to the sacred way. Living life thought the Creator's wisdom on Sacred Mother Earth for all seventh generations.

We deeply honor the river flowing through our home land as we humbly thank our ancestors for the traditional Indian blood flowing through our veins. We honor our Indian heritage for the privilege of being the descendants of the original Sacred Keepers.

We give thanks and honor to the Yurok homes living on Yurok Home Land. We thank the Chairperson, the Vice Chairperson, the Council, the Staff, and all Yurok Tribal members for this dedication. We give special thanks and deep appreciation to Judith Marasco for making the Yurok homes possible through her hard work. We also thank the Housing Authority staff, committee and board.

Every day may we remember that by honoring and loving our families, our homes, our communities, our home land, and our Mother Earth that we honor, love and live the ancestors sacred way. If we honor, love and live the ancestors sacred way then the Creator will honor, love and live the sacred way through each and every one of us.

Oh Great Sprit, reawaken the sacred way of the seventh generation connection and may Your wisdom and Your love live on through us.
